Admitted as a solicitor in 1992 in England and Wales and called to the Bar in 2009 in New Zealand Kevin has practised criminal defence law throughout his career.
He came to New Zealand in 2012 to join the Public Defence Service, quickly rising to the position of Public Defender of Wellington before he joined the independent bar in 2018.
Kevin has extensive experience in all aspects of criminal defence having defended in murder cases, drug cases, serious violence and prosecutions brought by the Serious Fraud Office. He is authorised by Legal Services to conduct all levels of cases before all courts including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Kevin also has significant experience in regulatory proceedings having defended health and safety, environmental and trading standards prosecutions. Kevin has also assisted numerous professionals including doctors, teachers and other lawyers facing disciplinary investigations and proceedings from their professional bodies.
Kevin holds a Bachelor and Master of Laws, both with Honours, and is a member of the New Zealand Law Society’s branch Criminal Law Committee.
